Sunshine Coast Sportfishing Club Inc.

Welcome to the Sunshine Coast Sportfishing Club Inc.

We are a social and family orientated fishing club whose members cover a wide and diverse range of anglers from beginners through to the more experienced and dedicated fisher.

The club fosters a culture of fellowship and learning giving its members the opportunity to further develop their skills and knowledge of fishing whilst following best practice in fishing sustainability and boating safety. This is facilitated via our monthly members’ meetings, targeted workshops and shared learnings exchanged between club members.

While socially orientated the club has a competitive nature with regular club competitions, fish of the month comps and annual awards. Competitions are conducted in fresh water impoundments, estuaries, beach and offshore environments, both in local area and camping away formats. These competitions are usually conducted over a weekend culminating in a Sunday afternoon weigh in & social gathering.

The club is an ANSA affiliated club and as such follows the national body’s rules and guidelines whilst embracing the association’s motto of Sport, Conservation, Integrity.

The Club is closely aligned to the ANSA Qld Branch utilising many of the resources the branch has on offer. The club also interacts with other ANSA Qld clubs in both a formal and informal manner.

The Club hosts a Private Facebook Group that is restricted to SCSFC Members Only. This group provides a forum for members to share information with all members regarding their fishing experiences, upcoming trips, competitions, photos and other points of interest.

Maroochydore BCF Store has kindly offered members of the Club a 10% discount * off full priced merchandise.  * * Some exclusions apply.   Presentation of the Club membership card is required (or a pic of it), so make sure you grab one at the next meeting.

* May be subject to change without notice      ** Yeti, Weber etc excluded

We are a proud supporter of this year’s Womens Fishing Classic, held

ANSA Record Presentation

Damien Withell’s capture in January of a spotty mackerel of 1010mm scored him an ANSA Queensland record, here he is getting his certificate from Club Captain Jim Brennan.

Well done Damien.

Prize Winners (Members Meeting April 2024)

The February Borumba Fish Off was held amid torrential rain that meant some anglers were caught at the Dam and others couldn’t get to the Dam because of local road flooding.

Three lucky 3 ones who braved the elements and then went on to win prizes were Tom Guy (yet to be presented his prize), Noel Platt  and Damien Withell (sorry Damien, just missed the handover).

March comp was held at Cherwell Creek and 10 anglers enjoyed a weekend of fishing, laughs, food and drinks while staying at a brilliant Stayz accomodation with its own boat ramp and ample parking.

It was slim pickings, fishing wise though with only 5 anglers submitting captures.   Winners though were Carl Jensen, Rafi Opanubi (no pic) and Dick Aspinall (no pic).

Guest Speaker, Members Meeting (April 2024)

We were priviledged to have had the Deputy Commander, Clive Surridge from Coast Guard Mooloolaba, provide a fantastic and informative presentation.   We witnessed how CG MBA has grown from very humble beginnings with a caravan being used for radio operations along with a small Haines Hunter rescue vessel at La Balsa; to what we have now with the purpose built facility at Parkyn Parade.    He was funny, charming and knowledgeable on all things Coast Guard.  Thank you Clive.
